The Star

The Star Hotel, located at 2176 Mission Street in San Francisco’s Mission District, was leased by the Department of Public Health’s Direct Access to Housing Program in January 2003, and was brought in to the DISH portfolio on July 1, 2007. The Star is a three story, renovated 54 unit Single Room Occupancy (SRO) Hotel.

Details & Amenities

Every unit includes radiator, a window, mini blinds, a sink, and ceiling light fixture. Other amenities offered to the Star residents are an in-house phone line, cable television, twin size bed with mattress, a mini-refrigerator, and a microwave.

The Star has two residential floors with two restrooms and two showers on each floor. The Star also offers a shared community kitchen and community room with cable television. As at every DISH property, 24-hours per day, a DISH-staff front desk clerk is on duty to assist the tenants and to ensure the building safety.

Programming

The Star also offers on-site Support Services available to all residents. The Support Services team is staffed by the Department of Public Health and a team of Case Managers.

DISH Property Management staff provide excellent property management services in conjunction with the Support Services team to help the tenants successfully maintain their housing.

The Star Property Management team and Support Services team has a variety of activities and events each month, which are announced in the monthly event calendar. Some of the activities are Bingo, board games, a monthly birthday celebration, and holiday celebrations.

In addition to activities and events, the Support Services team has a monthly food pantry for the residents, women’s & men’s groups, sporting outings, and a number of other activities.
