Fund Development Associate
Melanie was born in Massachusetts where she grew up and eventually got her degree in Marketing and minor in Psychology. Upon graduating, she jumped at the opportunity to move to the Bay Area and work toward breaking down employment barriers for refugees and asylees as they redefine home in the US.
Determined to better understand the refugee journey to the US, she spent much of 2019 in Mexico volunteering at a refuge for immigrants and studying Spanish at a local University. Fortunate to have witnessed the power of a welcoming home, Melanie gravitated to DISH in March of 2020 to serve on its fundraising team and promote its profound mission to welcome all people home.
What is home for you?
Home is a place where I can be my whole self with no judgement, surrounded by loved ones who I can confide and connect with.
I made a 2 second debut in a movie you have never heard of (Central Intelligence: 2016)
