The Le Nain

The Le Nain is an SRO (Single Room Occupancy) dwelling that has been part of the Direct Access to Housing (DAH) program since June 2000, and has been used exclusively as a senior housing project (ages 55 and up) for DAH. Delivering Innovation in Supportive Housing (DISH) has been providing property management of Le Nain Hotel since July 2007, making sure that the housing we offer is clean, safe, and secure. Le Nain Hotel is a four story building with a newly-modernized elevator, offering 85 housing units.

History

The Le Nain at 730 Eddy Street is located at the edge of the Uptown Tenderloin District, convenient to City Hall, Civic Center, and right next to Van Ness Avenue, the famous Auto Row that was home to San Francisco’s most prestigious auto showrooms from 1906 until the end of the last century. Van Ness Avenue is no longer home to as many automobile showrooms as it has been in the past, but it is still alive with theaters, restaurants, shops, and soon a hospital will be built just three blocks away at the corner of Geary and Van Ness. Le Nain Hotel’s 100-year history was mostly been spent as a tourist hotel, and as recently as 1976 this hotel was known as the Belmont Hotel.

Programming

The Le Nain offers a Tenant Service Staff made up of a Service Director, two full time Case Managers, and a part time nurse. The Tenant Service team provides for Le Nain residents by arranging case management brokerage to other service providers. The Service Team offers a full range of tenant activities all year round including a Monday through Friday 9 – 10am Morning Coffee and Snack that is attended by about 20% of the residents each day, two different movie afternoons each month, a monthly raffle with a great prize, one lunch and one breakfast each month, a monthly free food market, plus games like bingo, and more.

Details & Amenities

Every unit has a wall heater, at least one large window, blinds, a twin-size bed frame and mattress, a mini-refrigerator, a microwave, a cabinet, and a night stand. Every unit has a private bath with a toilet, shower, and sink. Three floors of the hotel offer a coin-operated washing machine and dryer and all four hotel floors have access to the garbage chute. Le Nain Hotel offers 24-hour a day front desk operations to oversee the front door and every floor at all times.
